Microsoft Cancer detection technology

After reading the news I have stumbled upon a story that I have found interesting. Microsoft have been working on software that will help doctors and radiologists to identify cancer sooner. Microsoft have called it Inner Eye it uses the technology found in the Xbox Kinect sensor and the same technology used in HoloLens. HoloLens is the name given to Microsoft’s Virtual reality (VR) technology. Inner eye works on the principle that it scans a user not a “patient”, they are scanned from the outside in but the team at Microsoft want to turn this on its head and evolve the technology to scan a user inside out. what is good about this development is that it is using an always updated algorithm to identify cancer, this algorithm is updated by Microsoft with the help of oncologists and radiographers, the medical professionals can identify where inner eye has made a mistake in diagnosis and this can be added to the algorithm to prevent future mistakes. Inner eye is a forever learning piece of Artificial Intelligence (AI) software and I think it has some great potential.

System Maintenance

In this blog, I will be explaining some simple tasks to help enable you to maintain your computer system! Let’s first start off by increasing security, there are many ways to increase security for example using an anti-virus product and ensuring that the virus definitions database is always up to date! Another way to increase system security is to keep windows up to date and install windows security updates, this can be done using windows update located in settings / control panel. Now let’s move on to improving system performance this can be improved using some built in windows tools it can also be done using some 3^rd party software. For example, using Malware bytes to remove malware threats will improve system performance and it will also help to increase system security. You can also use disk defragmenter and disk clean up to help improve performance these tools are supplied by Microsoft and can be found in control panel. Disk defragmenter takes all the fragmented files and puts them together in one location on the hard drive. Disk clean up removes files such as temporary internet files it will also empty the recycle bin to help create hard drive space.

Virus Removal

A virus is an infection that can cause your system to behave erratically, a virus can cause your system to run slow and become unresponsive. Viruses can enter the system in several ways for example a virus can be contained within an email attachment; a virus can also be contained inside a file download from the internet. There are ways that this can be prevented, for example using Antivirus software will help as it scans the system to detect viruses and removes them from the system.  There are a few common types of viruses for example a Trojan virus this type of virus can be used in a destructive way such as causing data corruption and causing system crashes it can also modify and delete files. Microsoft surface laptop

New Surface laptop!

Per recent news, Microsoft will be launching a new notebook called the windows surface laptop, it is said to be released on June 15^th 2017 the basic model will cost £979 approx. and the most expensive surface laptop will cost £2,149 the surface laptop is primarily aimed at students, and comes in various colors. The surface laptop will feature 5^th generation processors i5 and i7 the surface laptop will come with a windows operating system called Windows 10 S this is a version of Windows 10 that will only allow apps to be installed from the store, meaning that you will not be able to use 3^rd party programs such as iTunes or google chrome, Microsoft claim that they have done this to increase security and performance. However, this is not the first-time Microsoft have created a restricted operating system, they introduced the idea in windows RT, this is a restricted copy of windows 8 that only allows apps to be installed from the store, this was first introduced on the surface tablet that was using an ARM processor instead of an X86 processor. However, windows RT faded out over a couple of years.

Amazon echo Vs Google home

Echo Vs google home, both do a very similar job but which is the better of the two. In this blog, we are going to discover what features set these devices apart! So, the amazon echo comes in a couple of forms, there is the full-size echo and the echo dot this is a smaller version of the echo. However, compared to google home the echo is not customisable, the google home device allows for the bottom section to be changed making it a more personal device.

The google home device allows for TV control when used with a Chromecast device

Amazon echo allows you to order items from amazon

Both devices allow you to control your home using your voice

Google home allows for user customization 

However, amazon has one major drawback. The amazon echo is not voice specific meaning anyone can control your device and because it can order items from amazon anyone can purchase without you knowing. This is something that amazon should address as this is a massive security risk.

It has been mentioned that Apple are planning to launch a rival device this will use the Siri AI and will offer similar functionality as the other devices.

Microsoft Creators update

With patch Tuesday, fast approaching we thought it would be a good idea to give you an insight into what to expect from the new update and ways to troubleshoot errors with the update process.

The new update is set to bring a range of new and exciting features to windows 10. For example, in the new update it is bringing 4k HD gaming (compatible Devices only!) it is also introducing a new 3D app this is said to be like the Paint program but allows 3D modelling ect like adobe Photoshop. Microsoft are also introducing a VR platform for use with VR equipment (See Microsoft website for more info).

But it would not be patch Tuesday without the occasional hiccup! But fear not the friendly team at OX365 are here to assist you! There are some things that you can try however before you bring your machine to us!

• 1.       If the update does not work or hangs during the install do not switch off your system as it may be working and switching it off can cause damage to the system.
• 2.       If the update installed but you notice a decline in system performance you can remove the update manually ask us if you are unsure.

The update has been released early to the development community however this is accessible to all using the windows 10 upgrade tool, the official release date for this update is 11/04/2017 so this will be rolled out to systems on the above date!

Does your PC run slow? Do you spend time waiting for programs to respond or open? If the answer is yes to these questions it could be time to give your machine a clean. There are many ways to optimize and clean your system and file system. For example, you can run programs that are built into windows to perform clean up tasks such as disk clean up, you can also use disk derangement to help optimize your drives. However not every problem can be solved with the built-in tools supplied by Microsoft. Some performance issues require the help of a third-party program. For example, malware is an issue that is commonly found on most systems this can infect your files and can also be contained in programs that can cause your system to behave erratically however this can be fixed by using Malwarebytes, this is a program that will scan your system for potential threats and remove them from your system!
