Microsoft Cancer detection technology
After reading the news I have stumbled upon a story that I
have found interesting. Microsoft have been working on software that will help
doctors and radiologists to identify cancer sooner. Microsoft have called it Inner
Eye it uses the technology found in the Xbox Kinect sensor and the same
technology used in HoloLens. HoloLens is the name given to Microsoft’s Virtual
reality (VR) technology. Inner eye works on the principle that it scans a user
not a “patient”, they are scanned from the outside in but the team at Microsoft
want to turn this on its head and evolve the technology to scan a user inside
out. what is good about this development is that it is using an always updated algorithm
to identify cancer, this algorithm is updated by Microsoft with the help of oncologists
and radiographers, the medical professionals can identify where inner eye has
made a mistake in diagnosis and this can be added to the algorithm to prevent
future mistakes. Inner eye is a forever learning piece of Artificial Intelligence
(AI) software and I think it has some great potential.
